The opening ceremony of the 5th Vietcombank Mekong Delta Marathon - Hau Giang

(HGO) - On the evening of July 6th, the opening ceremony of the 5th Vietcombank Mekong Delta Marathon - Hau Giang 2024 took place at Hoa Binh Square, Vi Thanh City. The event was attended by central leadership representatives, as well as officials from Hau Giang province and other provinces in the Mekong Delta region.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, the Permanent Deputy Chairperson of the Provincial People’s Committee and Head of the Organizing Committee highlighted that through this marathon, Hau Giang aims to introduce itself to domestic and international friends as a friendly and promising destination, where runners can shine on the international stage.

The 5th Vietcombank Mekong Delta Marathon - Hau Giang attracted over 10.800 registered athletes across 6 distances. This morning, the 1.1km and 2.4km races for children and teenagers were successfully organized, with 2,000 participants.

At dawn tomorrow, the official races will take place across the 5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km distances, with approximately 8,800 athletes participating, including 19 international athletes from Thailand, Japan, Singapore, India, and others.
